Sandra for you - Swiss curly blogger

SRPSKI

4. Kako izgleda tvoje pranje kose i koje preparate koristiš? Koja pakovanja više koristiš, proteinska ili hidratantna?
Svoju rutinu pranja počinjem šamponiranjem Curl Junkie Gentle Cleansing šamponom, raščešljam lokne dok su mokre i nanosim balzam. Koristim lagani balzam poput Curl Junkie leave-in, ili the Kinky Curly Knot Today.

Trenutno koristim Mop Top anti-frizz gel (srednje jačine). Ovo je moj omiljeni gel, jer lokne čini elastičnim, sjajnim i ne otežava ih. Gel nanosim guzvajući kosu i pokupim višak vode majicom. Kosu obično sušim fenom, jer ako ne koristim difuzer, onda mi lokne postanu frizi i nemaju volumen. Kada sušim kosu, uvek gasim fen dok menjam sekcije, kako bih smanjila frizi efekat.

6. Da li često ispravljaš lokne? Ja moram da kažem da sam veliki protivnik toga.
To je sad dobro pitanje.

Volite svoje lokne! :)

ENGLISH

I know that many of you have 3A hair. This type of curly hair is not too dry, but it is sometimes a little more difficult to hold the curls and keep them defined until the next wash. On how to maintain this type of curly hair, I talk to Sandra, a Swiss blogger. You can read Just curly, on this site. Sandra was very friendly and gladly accepted the invitation to cooperate, so  I was very pleased.

1. How often do you wash your hair?
I try to wash my hair only about every 2-3 days. On second days I usually add a water-conditioner mix to my curls to revitalize them. On third days I like put them up in a half-updo.

2. Do you make those natural hair masks with avocado, coconut and olive oil, eggs ...?
I have to admit I’m a bit lazy when it comes to mixing my own conditioner. So the answer is no, but I’m planning to try them as an inexpensive alternative to conditioners.

3. Do you practice co-washing? I just recently wrote an article about it. Sadly, here in Serbia, there are no balms that are designed for co-washing, such as a Deva no poo, etc..
I always use a shampoo while washing my hair, because only using a conditioner to cleanse my curls quickly gets them over-conditioned and by that really sticky. But instead of using a regular shampoo I use a sulafte free one (my favorite is the Curl Junkie Gentle Cleansing Shampoo), which I order online.

4. What is your washing routine and which products do you use? Which hair masks do you use, protein or moisturizing?
I start my washing routine by shampooing with the Curl Junkie Gentle Cleansing Shampoo and then detangle my curls while they’re soaking wet and covered with conditioner. I use a light conditioner for example the Curl Junkie leave-in, or the Kinky Curly Knot Today. Because most of the time my curls don’t need extra-moisture I use light conditioners, which won’t weigh down my curls. However, if I feel like my curls need some extra-moisture, I detangle them with a deep-conditioner (I’m currently using the Eden Bodyworks JojOba Monoi deep conditioner). To detangle my curls I finger comb them without using a brush.

5. How do you define your curls, which creams do you use and how do you dry your hair? Do you use any special method?
After washing my hair I style them with a styling gel. I’m currently using the Mop Top anti-frizz gel (medium hold).  This gel is my favorite one, because it leaves me with bouncy and shiny curls without weighing them down. I scrunch in the gel and then plop to get rid of excess moisture before I start blow-drying my curls. I usually blow-dry my curls because if I don’t, they get frizzy and aren’t voluminous at all. When I’m diffusing my hair I always turn off the blow-dryer when changing sections to reduce frizz to a minimum. I diffuse my curls until they’re about 80-90% dry and then scrunch out the crunch.

6. Do you often straighten your curls? I must say that I'm a big opponent of it.
Now that’s a good question: I don’t remember the last time I’ve straightened my curls! That was probably about 1.5 years ago. But before I knew how to properly take care of my curls I straightened them every day, but I’ve got to admit I don’t like the way I look with straight hair anymore, which is why I never straighten them…

7. Have you ever tried to define curls with beer or flaxseed gel - natural alternatives and they don’t harm the hair?
No, like the selfmade conditioner I’ve also never tried a natural way to define my curls. But I totally need to try it.

8. What is the best cream for defining curly hair that you have tried and where do you buy them?
For me the Mop Top anti-frizz gel (medium hold) is the best gel. Depending on the time of year and on how my curls feel I change stylers, which means my favorite products also change every now and then.
Since there are practically no sulfate and slilicone free shampoos, conditioners or stylers available in Switzerland I usually order them on www.curlmart.com!

9. Do you have something that you want to share with curly readers from Serbia?
Love your curls! :)

Thanks to Sandra for her answers and patience. I am sure that her advice will be useful to many curly girls who have this type of hair. :)
